You’ll often find me behind a camera at sunrise or sunset, somewhere near a river or the sea.
I live in beautiful Monmouthshire, south Wales, close to the Prince of Wales Bridge, which many know best as the Severn Bridge or the Second Severn crossing.
The Severn Bridge, and the beautiful coastline of the Vale of Glamorgan, features a lot in my photography.
Cornwall does too, with its mesmerising colours and endless horizons.
I’ll be the one obsessing over the light, the sun slanting through a cloud, the colour of the sky.
A lot of my photography is ‘impressionistic’.
Like the Impressionist artists, my images are about bright colours, a bold mix of light, atmosphere, objects and landscapes: the moment as it’s happening in front of me.
Quite often I’ll contrast sharp focus in the front of the image with soft focus in the background. Quite often my images are bright, or moody, with lots of contrast.
Who were the Impressionists? Think Claude Monet (the amazing waterlilies series of paintings) and Renoir.
Their art has been my inspiration since my art history A level.
